Legendary Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot passed away on Monday, May 1 at the age of 84.
The Orillia, Ont., native helped define folk-pop in the ’60s and ’70s and is considered one of Canada’s greatest songwriters. He is remembered for some of his greatest hits, including For Lovin’ Me and Early Morning Rain.
In 2017, Rev. Karen Hilfman Millson sat down for an interview with Lightfoot on behalf of Broadview, where they discussed the beginning of his career, as well as his faith and activism.
“I can say one thing,” said Lightfoot during the interview. “It’s faith in God that keeps me going and I will say it to you, I have faith.”
