Why Give Securities to Broadview?

✓ Reduce Your Capital Gains Tax
Donating publicly traded securities directly to Broadview can eliminate the capital gains tax that would otherwise apply when you sell appreciated securities. That means more of the value of your investment can go toward supporting Broadview’s work.

✓ Increase the Value of Your Gift
When you donate securities that have increased in value, you can give the full appreciated value without first selling the investment and paying capital gains tax. It can be an effective way to make a significant gift.

✓ Receive a Charitable Tax Receipt
Broadview will issue a charitable tax receipt based on the fair market value of the securities at the time they are sold, typically within one business day. The receipt can be used to claim a charitable tax credit on your income tax return.

✓ Give Without Using Cash
A gift of securities allows you to support Broadview without taking money from your bank account or reducing your available cash.

✓ We’ll Help Make It Easy
Transferring securities is a straightforward process. Broadview’s sponsorship form (below) provides you with the information you need.

✓ Invest in the Future of Independent Christian Media
Your gift helps Broadview continue its work as Canada’s only independent, progressive Christian media organization—bringing thoughtful journalism, spiritual depth and opportunities for meaningful dialogue to Canadians.

Please Seek Professional Advice

Broadview strongly recommends that you seek professional advice from a financial adviser to ensure your financial goals are considered and that your tax situation is reviewed to determine if a gift of securities is right for you.
