1) Establish a time and place for the initial meeting. Can’t get together face-to-face? Consider hosting a virtual meet-up. Google Hangouts is one alternative.
3) Host your first meeting (in person or online):
— Appoint/introduce a moderator
— Invite all members to introduce themselves
— Review the articles for discussion (members should bring their latest issue of Broadview marked with articles they’d like to discuss)
— The moderator spends a few minutes hearing from members about which article(s) they’d like to discuss and chooses most popular topics
— Discussion begins
4) Have a list of discussion questions ready
5) Establish a member list (pass around clipboard to gather email addresses)
6) Send out a reminder for the next meeting
