How searching for lost residential school photos made me think differently about reconciliation

A sepia-toned colour, grainy, old photo from 1909 featuring a group of Indigenous pupils at Mount Elgin Industrial Institute, a United Church-run residential school in Ontario. The students are doing laundry using old washing wheels. The girls have long braids, long-sleeve shirts and skirts and aprons on. The boys have short hair and blazers and trousers on.
